Diabetes – Why You Should Not Take This Disease For Granted

Diabetes develops when the pancreatic cells producing insulin, the hormone which manages blood glucose in our body, produces insufficient insulin and tissues in our body become resistant to the normal function of insulin. This condition increases blood sugar levels which can lead to a lot of complications such as cardiovascular health risk problems and blindness. Today, millions and millions of people already got and the number is still continuously increasing spiking up to 24 Million cases worldwide. This is why it is very important for us to monitor our sugar levels.

Diabetes is not something that you can get while strolling outside in the park. You can develop if you are at risk for it. Risk factors for include family history of diabetes, obesity, or lifestyle risks such as poor diet and smoking. If you are worried about diabetes, then you should start checking out the risks that I have mentioned.

The latter test is used to monitor how effective your blood glucose control is as the result of this laboratory test indicates your glucose level during the past three months. You can also buy your own glucometer kit for daily monitoring of your sugar level.

Diabetes is a serious disease with a lot of serious complications. It is advised that once you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you have to immediately consult your doctor. He should be able to guide you with what kind of treatment you will need and how you can manage your disease well.
